Matthew Brown

Matthew Brown has extensive experience within the public and private sectors and has industry experience with investments in real estate, as well as renewable and traditional energy industries.

Prior to Energent, Matthew spent the previous five years at Tamra-Tacoma Capital Partners, a New York-based multi-family office, where he was a Founder and Managing Director. Matthew was responsible for creating accretive, long-term partnerships with developers, utilities, OEMs and consolidation vehicles, as well as co-leading direct investments in 1,000+ MW of renewable energy generation on behalf of family offices in the U.S. and Europe. Prior to Tamra-Tacoma, Matthew was a Senior Adviser to PACE, a U.S. bi-partisan special energy financing district providing innovative means of financing energy-efficient improvements for residential, commercial and industrial properties where he worked closely with the University of California, Berkeley and the Department of Energy to lead the development of the first PACE program nationwide and the commercialization of $1 billion in federal financing. Prior to Matthew’s involvement with PACE, Matthew was the Private Wealth Manager and the Managing Director of Epplament Energy where he raised, managed and deployed $300 million in participating family wealth for renewable investments in the United States and Canada. Prior to Epplament, Matthew was the Private Wealth Manager and Managing Director at Lestis Wind, Hydro & Solar where he raised, managed and deployed $150 million in participating family wealth for renewable investments in the United States.

Matthew is on the board of several non-profits and has been an Adviser and/or Contributor to the University of California Berkeley’s Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory (RAEL), Berkeley; Texas Tech University’s Wind Institute (NWI); the Department of Energy; as well as GE Capital and KPMG.

Matthew attended Texas Christian University where he studied Entrepreneurial Management.

Shane Starr

Shane Starr has extensive industry-agnostic experience in domestic and international acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures and financings across energy, media and real estate.

Shane spent the previous five years at Tamra-Tacoma Capital Partners, a New York-based multi-family office, where he was a Founder and Managing Director. Shane was responsible for creating accretive, long-term partnerships with developers, utilities, OEMs and consolidation vehicles as well as having co-led direct investments in 1,000+ MW of renewable generation on behalf of family offices in the U.S. and Europe. Shane facilitated the implementation of renewable energy transactions on all seven continents, including Antarctica. Prior to Tamra-Tacoma, Shane acted as the sole Director and Private Wealth Manager for families abroad and led the fiduciary functions by providing comprehensive advice on their complex, multigenerational wealth planning and management needs. Shane’s clients were primarily domiciled in Europe, Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. Prior to acting as the Director and Private Wealth Manager, Shane managed a development, production and financing slate of 80+ feature films and television show via a first-look deal with a major Hollywood studio, before overseeing global acquisitions, co-productions and distribution for the oldest independent distributor in the United States. Additionally, Shane was responsible for arranging single picture and slate financing arrangements in excess of $400M. The films Shane has worked on have grossed over $2B in box office revenues. Shane began his career at Creative Artists Agency, the world's preeminent talent agency.

Benjamin D. Nelson has 20+ years’ experience as an executive and attorney, most recently as a member of the senior management team of InfraREIT, a Dallas-based energy infrastructure firm, through its $530mm IPO in 2015.

Ben has significant transactional experience, closing over 225 M&A, investment, securities offering, finance or other transactions throughout his career. Ben has worked as an executive in the energy business since 2010, first as Assistant General Counsel to Hunt Consolidated, a large Dallas-based energy company affiliated with Ray L. Hunt, and then as General Counsel to InfraREIT. Prior to Hunt Consolidated, Ben was General Counsel to Hunt’s multi-strategy investment group. Ben was in private practice as a corporate securities attorney from 1996 to 2007, first as an associate with Fulbright & Jaworski and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and then as a partner with Hughes & Luce (now KL Gates).

Ben attended Stanford University where he studied History and attended Duke Law School where he obtained his Juris Doctor (J.D.).
